Subject: Regarding the need for Counselling in Schools
I, Abhimanyu Sethia, a student of People’s School would like to gain the attention of parents and concerned authorities, through the columns of your esteemed daily on the alarming problem related to stream selection at high school level.
I am a Class X student who is in the process of choosing a career stream and I feel that I am in a state of utter confusion. I am sure that there are many other students who are going through the same problems as I am.
Misleading advertisements and misinformation have made it difficult for students to take a decision. We, the students, require a source of genuine information and advice for a successful career decision.
Moreover, we can also see many students who lack the temperament and capability to excel in a particular stream, yet are bound to take it. Therefore, objective psychometric tests making students aware of their strengths and weaknesses is essential.
In order to mobilize such career counseling, the government, NGOs and school administration must set up counseling camps in schools and other places. Moreover, the expensive psychometric tests must be subsidized by the government.
I hope my letter would turn to be an eye-opener with regard to the dilemma that nearly every student faces in this crucial phase of his / her life and suitable measure would be taken to ease the confusion so that the future of our nation can work upon its strengths.
Thanking you
Yours sincerely

Abhimanyu Sethia
