International Literacy Day

September 8 2026

‘Education is the key to unlocking a world of possibilities, and every book, pencil, and notebook donated brings a child one step closer to a brighter future.’

The Shishyans of the Foundational Stage observed International Literacy Day with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of social responsibility from 1st September to 8th September 2026. The week-long initiative aimed to promote the importance of literacy while encouraging students to contribute towards the education of lesser privileged children.

As part of the celebration, the school organized ‘SEVA’ initiative, a stationery collection drive through which students generously donated new and unused learning materials. The response from students and parents was overwhelming, reflecting their commitment to the noble cause of spreading literacy and learning opportunities to those in need.

The students were sensitized to the significance of education and they learned that even a small contribution can help bridge educational gaps and empower children to build brighter futures.

This drive was extended to all our school’s didis, bhaiyas and other support staff members whose sincerity and ardour adds value to the school. The initiative not only supported the cause of literacy but also instilled values of empathy, compassion and social responsibility among the students.

A part of the carefully sorted and packed collected material will be distributed in the two adopted schools ensuring that these resources reach young learners who can benefit from them.

Through this meaningful initiative, children of Nursery to Class II of The Shishukunj International School, North Campus, took a significant step towards fostering a more literate, inclusive, and empowered society.
