March 29 2025

The session began with the objective of providing a broad overview of the Cambridge Early Years to educators.

Ms. Achama and Ms.Pooja had initially set some ground rules for the workshop to make it more interactive and fruitful. The resource person shared that the legendary 816 years old Cambridge university and its research based
international curriculum is mapped out with flexibility where it offers 6 curriculum areas namely:

– Communication, language & literacy

– Mathematics

– Creative expression

– Physical development

– Personal, social & emotional development

– Understanding the world

The session also covered:

– Cambridge Learner Attributes

– Coherent approach

– Key principles of Early Years

– Approaches to learning & teaching

– Continuous provision area

Educators were creatively engaged in tasks such as:

– play based learning group activity

– gallery walk

– short term planning template

The group activities organised in the workshop encouraged teachers to actively participate and the environment fostered a sense of comfort, encouraging open and honest questioning.

Key takeaways from the workshop

Engagement First: All lessons are integrated with stories, songs and hands-on play, ensuring active participation.
Thematic Approach: Each block revolves around a theme (e.g., travel,
movement, jungle, senses etc.).
Use of Play-Based Learning: Lessons encourage role-play, storytelling,
exploration, logical and critical thinking and much more, bypassing the age-old conventional methods.
Integrated Learning Areas: Mathematics, language and science concepts are
interwoven to enhance holistic learning.
Teacher-Led vs. Child-Initiated Learning: Materials include guided activities
but also allow children to go beyond to explore, think and create independently.

The workshop gave educators a detailed insight into the revised Cambridge Early Years curriculum as a result educators will be able to contribute to high-quality early childhood education and teachers will be able to use Cambridge resources effectively and efficiently.
