The Farmers’ Friend

Manas Bhatia, Class VII B

Porter Pig was a very famous pig on farms all across the world. Not only could he lift a barn above his head, but he also had the best snout that anyone had ever seen. Porter Pig was the best at sniffing out trouble. He could smell trouble from fifty miles away. Whenever Porter Pig found trouble, he was always able to fix the problem and make everything okay. Farmers all over the world asked to see Porter Pig, hoping that they would be able to use his strength and snout to make their farm peaceful. One day, on a farm in the south, Porter Pig was sniffing for trouble when he smelled the worst smell he could ever imagine. Porter Pig rushed over to the barn where the smell was very strong. He lifted up the huge barn above his head, and there it was staring right into his eyes. Porter Pig had never seen anything like this before.
The story continued…
There staring straight at him was Pitch, the world’s greatest magician who could even control fear. He was standing in front of Porter Pig in the shadow of the barn. Porter Pig placed the barn beside him and went forward to grab a spade kept in the field.
Pitch laughed and got out of the shadows. Waving his fingers he muttered some words. The spade disappeared from the field and landed in Pitch’s hand.
Porter Pig then put on his boxing gloves which he always carried around with him. The gloves reminded him of his valour and stranght and he decided the he would defeat Pitch by any means. Pitch glided towards Porter Pig and punched him in the face. It stunned Porter Pig but he soon recovered from the shock. A wrestling duel took place between the two and all the farm animals stood staring at them. Both were badly wounded in the fight.
Just then Porter Pig noticed that every time Pitch did some magic, a ring on his index finger glowed. Porter Pig concluded that Pitch’s powers were in the ring. Porter Pig decided to first stun Pitch and then take out his ring.
As the fight continued, soon Porter Pig grounded Pitch and jumped onto his back. Porter Pig then removed the ring from Pitch’s finger. He placed it on the ground and then punched it with his fist. The ring snapped into two and there was a loud cry from Pitch.
Porter Pig saw that Pitch’s body was beginning to turn into purple smoke. The destruction of the ring had caused it.

That was the end of Pitch but not of Porter Pig’s adventures. He once had a duel with Sandman and the Green Goblin. Even today the farmers await the Porter Pig return. They believe that more than the earthworms, it is the Porter Pig who is the farmers’ best friend.
