We Dream

By Mrs Abhilasha Umahiya, Educator

(This poem was presented by students of Dhyanchand House in the Inter-House Poetry Recitation Competition)
Being zealous young children,
We aspire, we imagine, we gleam.
With our honest hearts,
We dream, we dream, we dream.
We dream of a land
Of a bright sun and rains and chill,
Where no cloud of smoke and poison
Loiters over the heads to kill.
Where I can live fearlessly,
You can live fearlessly…and so can everyone,
Where no bomb destroys a house,
And massacres old and young.
Where each mother is a Durga,
Each father just and strong,
Where old are loved and cared for,
And are not done any wrong.
Where every man and woman
Stands up for justice,
Where hatred and revenge
Are not at all a practice
Where the world is free of
Rejection, bombs and guns,
Where in the lap of mother Earth,
All do freely, cheerfully run.
Where a girl is not killed
For the sake of hollow honour.
Each eye has respect, acceptance
And pride for her demeanor.
Where no girl, no woman
Is scared to walk alone.
She doesn’t depend on others’ mercy
But soars higher on her own.
Where people don’t suffer and ail
And it’s a paradise,
Oh Lord! Give us strength
To be strong enough to rise.
We sing a song of our vision
That makes our eyes gleam,
Ah, we are not only singing,
But reviewing a fond dream
