The much awaited clubs at Shishukunj got off to a flying start in August 2024. The Students’ Council designed the clubs and the corresponding activities meticulously , with the aim of catering to the varied tastes of their peers.
The club meets saw a high attendance and were enriching and engaging . Students could be seen practising public speaking, acting, singing, painting, dancing, cooking, etc. The Brain Lab transported the students to the world of science while the Finsight had all to do with commerce and finance.
The effort that went into planning each club meet bore great results, as the students demanded an increase in the frequency of the clubs.
The varied clubs on offer were as follows :
ABHIVYAKTI: “You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere.” In order to channelise your ideas to the world and make a mark you need the essential skills of public speaking. Train yourself in distinct formats of public speaking, debates, discussions, elocution and help students overcome stage fright. Become a better orator and learn to negotiate diplomatically.
ABHINAY: The Drama Club is all about discovering the artist that lies within you. This club will help you learn stage etiquette, expression enhancement, appropriate body language, voice modulation and so much more than you can imagine. From scenes of a movie to creating a play of your own the options are limitless, re-enacting iconic scenes to creating your own ones, all will be possible here at Abhinay.
RIYAAZ: Find a way to experience the symphony of swaras and ragas. The captivating strings of the guitar, the thunderous beats of the drums and the elegant keys of the piano. Delve in the tunes of Beethoven, the energy of Metallica, the notes played by Ludwig and the tranquility of Barrère. Lose yourself in the world of music and get ready to encounter a whole new dimension.
BRAIN LAB: The Science Club is not merely an extracurricular activity; it is a gateway to a world of discovery, exploration, and innovation. The aim of this club is to expose the students to the visual world of science, where they have the ability to correlate their theoretical studies with the practical world. From exciting experiments to crafting 3D models, we aim to encourage students to delve deeply into the understanding that everything around them is steeped in science.
SWAAD: As said by Wolfgang Puck,“Cooking is like painting or writing a song. Just as there are only so many notes or colors, there are only so many flavors—it’s how you combine them that sets you apart.” The Swaad Club is where culinary enthusiasts come together to explore the art of cooking. Students will learn food preparation, plating , serving and much more from the culinary club along with knowing about different cuisines; diving into a world of flavors, techniques, and creativity with a flavorful journey.
FINSIGHT: Finance is the lifeblood of any business. This club would comprise a community of students who are passionate about money matters and market trends. The club would be conducted both theoretically as well as practically. Through simulations, seminars, and guest lectures the members will get to know about various aspects of financial planning, and investments. Students participating in this club would be allocated various portfolios (eg: CEO, CFO, MD)of companies and they would get to learn real-life applications of concepts learned from the allotments that would be made to them. This would be a club where students can pitch their innovative ideas, build connections, develop networks, and explore opportunities in the economy. The financial acumen of students will be developed.
ARENA: Are you fascinated by the battles of the past? Do you thrill to tales of legendary heroes and gods? Then step into the Arena Club, where history, myth, and action collide! Debate epic clashes and legendary figures. Bring history to life through acting. Challenge yourself with ancient games. This club is about exploring the drama, the strategies, and the larger-than-life personalities that make the past so captivating. Ready to enter the Arena?
THE SHISHUKUNJ LITERARY SOCIETY: The Shishukunj Literary Society will take you on a journey through the darling world of literature, full of book and movie discussions, debates, poetry, creative writing tips, fun activities on the art of storytelling and an absolutely amazing experience, all the while inculcating team building and the spirit of healthy competition as well.
NRITYA: “To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful and more powerful.”
A new addition, the Nritya Club will emphasize the importance of movement, expression and collaboration to welcome Shishyans of all genders, spread across grade VI to XII. Beginners, Intermediates and Professionals can choose to learn Classical, Semi Classical, Hip Hop, Jazz, Salsa etc depending on their area of interest from Club Leaders as well as Practicing Professionals. In addition to teaching choreographies on popular songs, they will also get an opportunity to create and showcase their own choreography in front of other Shishyans, one activity amongst a plethora of interesting activities designed specially for Shishyans.
ALPHA CS: The wonderful world of zeroes and ones, the world where everything is run on logic, a world that is so integral but so distinct from ours, is the world of CS. Students who enjoy everything computer related, such as python, HTML and robotics should grasp this wonderful opportunity.
KALAKRITI: Calling all art enthusiasts! Whether you’re a seasoned sketcher or a curious beginner, the Kalakriti club is your place to explore your creativity and develop your artistic skills. Make art your escape and destress through crafts, fine arts in forms of fashion, sustainability and portfolio building and develop digital designing skills. Collaborations with other clubs and renowned artists will give students a chance to experience art in its best form.
TASVEER: The Tasveer club shall comprise not just photography but also videography and video and photo editing. Young minds that are interested can sign up to learn more about the art of capturing the moment.
