Are you ready to be the change?

Anushka Mimani, Class X B

The current Indore has a variety of problems ranging from power shortage to overcrowding. The crime-rate and accidents have shot up immensely. Rapes and female infanticides cover the headlines of newspapers frequently. Diseases are spreading because of unhealthy living conditions.
The root cause of most of these issues is the citizens of Indore and their unhealthy mindset.  Every street in Indore is littered with garbage. The harmful fumes coming out from industries and vehicles pollute the environment and breaking the traffic rules has led to accidents.

It is said, “Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change with it.” Blaming the government won’t solve anything.  People need to stop worrying about just themselves and start looking at the bigger picture.
Small things like cycling to school and preventing wastage of electricity can make a huge difference. Strict enforcement of laws is important to reduce crimes and accidents. The citizens of this city need to understand the value of each person regardless of whether he is a sweeper or a CEO. Students should be taught the importance of developing an eco-friendly attitude because they are the future of this city and a few years from now, they will decide what becomes of it.

The city is already in an alarming state and it is high time the citizens stop hitting the snooze button for every problem.
