Bugs or Cockroaches?

Tanya Thakur, Class VIII F

Once upon a time, there were two friends who lived near Church Street. Their names were Josh and Dave. One day, they had a fight over a petty reason and both of them parted ways. Poor Josh went to the grove near the Bridge of Alan and sat down sorrowfully. He kept on trying until he realized that two tiny creatures were crawling on his shirt.
One was going towards the left and the other was going towards the right. Josh was afraid of insects and hence, he shouted, “Cockroaches! Help me! There are cockroaches on my shirt.”
The tiny insects fell because of Josh’s rapid and unsteady movements. Josh was just going to run away when he heard the two insects mumbling something to each other. Perhaps they were having a small fight! The first insect, a female, started shouting at the male. She said, “It’s all because of you! You look like a cockroach and not me. It is because of you that I fell down.” But the male spoke in defiance, “No, you are the one who forced me to crawl up the boy’s shirt. And we are bugs, not cockroaches. It is not my mistake that the boy cannot distinguish between a bug and a cockroach.”
The two got into a prolonged fight. That’s when Josh decided to speak up. He said, “Excuse me! Can I help you out of the fight?” The bugs glared at him. Nevertheless, he told them that it was his mistake because of which the bugs were fighting. “I am really sorry. I had a fight with my friend too. It was also because of a petty reason that we fought. My eyes were full of tears and I couldn’t see properly. That is why I was afraid and thought that you were cockroaches”, Josh said.
The bugs looked at each other and looked back at Josh. Josh continued, “Please forgive each other. Do not fight because of me. Please reconcile.” The bugs started to cry and hugged each other.
Josh was now in a better mood and he bid the bugs goodbye. He returned to reconcile with his friend, Dave. He felt that fighting with a dear friend for no reason was very stupid and that such small fights should not part friends.

Later on, Josh and Dave became friends once again and lived happily as best friends.
