Long time ago
When I was five,
I used to believe
In a lot of lies.
My favourite one was
About the Tooth fairy
Who I believed would give a sweet
In exchange for lost milk teeth.
I was told she comes
When you’re asleep,
And puts a sweet treat
Before she leaves.
I wondered how she could do this
Without being caught
And so when I lost another tooth,
I set the plot.
I put the tooth on the bedstead
And shut my eyes tight.
Soon I heard some whispers,
In the middle of the night.
From the corner of my eyes I saw
My parents with something wrapped in white,
And looking for my tooth
In the dim torch light.
I pretended to be fast asleep
And never spilled the beans
about my important discovery
Till I’d lost all my milk teeth.
