Author: Class X D
These poems were composed in class after reading The Tiger in the Zoo by Leslie Norris.
I was born to roam wild and free,
Now iron bars are all I see.
Wanting to hide behind the trees,
The place where I am meant to be.
Running through forests in search of prey,
Here my days all seem grey.
Waking with the sun’s bright ray,
Hoping to leave this place one day.
Nandanii Shah and Jagvi Arora
I was meant to rule and roar,
But here I am held captive,
Behind the iron bars
Of this silent, lonely cage.
And in this silent cage,
I cherish those days
When I was free
And lived life my way.
Samaira Pachauri and Hanisha Gholap
He missed a fellow monkey,
separated by man,
it made him very lonely,
she was taken away in a van.
When they lived together
at the jungle’s edge,
they were parted from each other,
he still waits for his friend instead.
Aaditya Jain and Rishaan Nahar
I was born to roam wild and free,
Now iron bars are all I see.
Here I will remain till my last breath,
Ahead of me, I only see death.
I used to roam in the forest,
Wild and free,
Resting quietly behind the trees,
near the Lake Isle of Innisfree.
