There’s a side in me that wants to be alone
Focused and quiet, in my zone
It feels like strength, it feels like peace
A place where doubt can finally cease
But then another side takes flight
Wants to laugh, be seen in life
Like this is who I want to be,
Full of warmth, glee and finally free
It feels really confusing
To tune in, both sides refusing
Always an increasing doubt
A fight I am unable to sort out
A growing balance and a heart full of glee,
I am still learning to see,
How both sides can fit in me.
Mirror, Mirror
On the wall,
Stop making me believe,
That what I see in you is all
It doesn’t matter,
Whether I’m too thick
Or too tall
I can still stand proud, never fall
I can laugh, I can cry
Without looking ‘pretty’ all the time
To live without makeup,
Not a crime
Mirror, Mirror
On the wall,
I step in front of you,
Looking so perfect,
Yet I stall ?
I want to be known,
For more than just an alluring face
If one looked inside,
My qualities and skills, sure to take their place
So, today I vow
To never in front of a mirror, bow
For it doesn’t determine my worth
A mirror can never dim my light,
It’s not only looks that matter, and I stand for what’s right
I used to have sleepless nights,
Worrying about what I’ll be?
Would I make my parents proud,
Would I bring my people glee?
But now I stand rest assured,
For high skies I shall soar
With this great God to hold my hand,
The mightiest waves I shall withstand
He has made a place for me,
Among all my fellow people,
And I shall bestand,
Contributing my part, lifting others up;
Giving all my love and holding an in-need’s hand
For maybe,
We were not made to excel,
Yes, that is not the thing,
Perhaps we were put here,
To spread joy and magic,
Among the hearts of others,
To remove sorrow from lives,
And appreciate the mighty world
