If hope were to be a colour
What would it be?
Wouldn’t it be different for everyone?
Red, yellow, orange or maybe green?
For a child, maybe it’s blue
The sky, the clouds and the endless view.
Pink to the mother
The colour of her child’s cover
Maybe golden to a little girl
The colour in which she sees the fairies twirl
Red for the doctor
Maybe black to an actor
For a painter, maybe it’s a colourful blast
The peace in the screaming contrast.
But what is it for me?
Red, yellow, orange or maybe green
Maybe it’s white for whipped cream
Or silver, the outline of a perfect dream
It could be grey, like the thunder and storm
Or peach, warm like the day you were born.
Which makes me wonder
If hope were to be a colour, what would it be?
To you, to the little girl, to the painter, and to me.
