My Favourite Celebrity
Rashmeet Muchhal, Class X B
When I was given the topic ‘My Favourite Celebrity’ in ASL, I thought that it was the epitome of simplicity of a topic. No discourtesy intended, but I impulsively opined that it was indeed a cliché and honestly does not require any creativity.
Putting aside my creative sensibility, I made up my mind to describe any of the famed celebrities, maybe Steve Jobs, perhaps Stephen Hawking or someone else imparting a divine influence on the populace.
But after a little brain-shuffling tie and a question-answer session, with whom? Any guesses? Myself. Starting off like ‘Am I right in my approach?’ ‘Do they really inspire or motivate me? Do they?’ The voice answered out loud ‘NO. They don’t really inspire or motivate you.’
At last, I had reached a conclusion that undoubtedly they are inspirational, they are role models but not for me. I found no underlying connection with them that could propel the urge within me to combat all my fears and weaknesses to rise above, emerging stronger to face all odds.
To my surprise, the one who definitely fit into this description so aptly as if it was her own niche, was a woman. A woman who keeps me going. A woman who awakens the indomitable urge within me to counter all the big boulders on my way to success. A woman who advocates that things don’t get easy, it’s you, it’s the very you who gets stronger and makes the odds turn in your favour.
That woman is a beautiful god’s creation, none other than my mother. Shocked? Undoubtedly, you might be wondering – is she really a celebrity? My answer to that is a loud ‘YES!’ She definitely is a celebrity. She is celebrated by me for her maternity that is her essence. She is celebrated by me for making my hardships no longer stay hard just by her presence. She is celebrated by me for completing my existence.
Stress Free Life – A Dream
Aeshani Pathak, Class X B
Is being stress-free a real state of being? A distinct possibility, or is it beyond the grasp of us mortals who have their hands, mind and heart filled with so many to-dos? So many expectations, so many pressures and insecurities coming out of our family, career, relationships, financial and ego needs to stay ahead?
Stress is nothing but the inability to relax the nervous tension that inhibits the brain. Long-term stress can affect the mental as well as the physical health. To cope with it, we need regular exercise and some time to relax and refresh our brain. But, doing so is next to impossible in our busy schedule.
Living a stress-free life is an elusive dream, at least in today’s world where staying ahead in the competition is all you need to survive. So, better learn to deal with it.
A Mysterious Corner of my House
Nirmesh Rajput, Class IX A
It had been a long time since I had been living in the quarters and paying rent each month. Now it was time to buy a new house. My friend found a perfect house for me and I decided to shift immediately. I could not meet the person selling the house. My friend fixed the deal for me.
I soon shifted to my new house. It was perfect. The house was big for me as I lived alone. One day, I thought of exploring the basement which I had not checked out earlier. It had not been opened since I had bought the house.
I looked around in search of something interesting. The corner to the left was very dark, which was strange at that point of time since it was sunny outside. I thought of taking a closer look. As I moved closer to that corner, I could hear voices warning me, ‘Go back, don’t come near!’
I ignored those voiced as my curiosity had the better of me. I reached that corner and stood there for some time. I examined the whole area, and found nothing. I went back to my study. I was not able to stop thinking about the corner. Something was there, something I had not seen, something evil.
At night, after dinner, I was compelled to go back and again have a look at that corner. I appeared to be the same as earlier. Just one thing which had gone unnoticed was a book kept there. It did not belong to me.
I picked it up and started reading it. It had some strange incantations in it which were like tongue twisters. As I read them, the corner began to shake and I was sucked into the book.
Now, I roam as a ghost. The corner of the house is where I reside. I wait for the next owner to visit. Will it be you?

The Beauty of Nature
Ayush Khurana, Class VIII E
What is man without Nature?
Like an adult who is not mature.
Nature is a creator like Einstein,
Helps us even though we hit her in the intestine.
She gives us food and oxygen,
Then why do we destroy her with bullets and gun?
We are the consumers of our caretaker
We use her so much that she wouldn’t be left till the future.
