Friends and books

Vartika Jain, Class IX D

Friends
The people whom we trust.
Friends are a must.
Best friends forever.
Friends should be lost never.

Laughing, playing and chatting,
All friends have the same liking.
They are like bunches of flowers, not in a mess
But owning the power of togetherness.

When all of them are together, they make some noise
However having their own fun allows them to rejoice.
People whom we trust,
Friends are must

Books
Books too are our friends,
With the friendship that never ends.
They never demand nor do they complain,
Books just are a boon and no bane.

The Season of Rain

Vagmi Shah, Class X B

The season which washes away all pain
Is the season of rain.
It starts in June,
Which, after the hot summer, is a boon!
Some days, it rains heavily,
Making the sky look like it’s crying terribly.
While on the other days, it just drizzles
Which after a while frizzles.
When the rains burst
It quenches everyone’s thirst
Blowing life into every little being
And showing us, that life is worth living.
Rain is a gift from above,
Given to us with love,
And, at the end of the day
Rain makes this world beautiful again.

Beauty of Nature

Tanisha Shah, Class VIII B

This love nature, blessed to us
Which became a man’s first love.
This greenery, these trees,
Seem as if the magic of a breeze.
Flowers, trees, birds make be gleeful
The beauty of nature makes the surroundings peaceful
Nature is magnanimous
Gave us a look of beauty tremendous.
These chirping birds
Those beautiful herds
Make me joyful
Make me gleeful
Love nature and nature will love you

It will make a river of happiness for you.

Thinking Out Loud

Avadhi Dass, Class X F

Ideas are the currency of the 21st century. An idea can literally change your life and the world around you. What you need is the inspiration to get that one idea that can revolutionize your whole life. Just as air, food and water are indispensable for survival, inspiration is necessary for success. One source of such inspiration could be quotations from the people who have done great things by doing greater things. These sayings are brief but their brevity speaks volumes. They make us stop and wonder. They motivate us to greater things in life and encourage us to keep going.

Oh! It’s Raining

Sparsh Jain, Class VI C and Anjali Dhakad, Class VI A

Oh! It’s raining,
Finally rains have arrived.
I’ll ask my father,
To take me for a drive.
In summer it was so hot,
That I wished to go to the pool.
But as it has rained,
The weather now is pretty cool.
Because of rains,
My school is closed today,
I don’t want to study
And I can’t even play.
I’m getting bored
As there’s nothing to do
And so I wish that

Tomorrow should not be a holiday too.

Trending Timelessness

Abhimanyu Sethia, Class IX-C

Yesterday, in the school-bus, someone joked that a bookstore was the only evidence that people still did sensible things. This soon sparked a debate on the latest fads and senseless trends! When I talked about trends, some oldies popped up to list the recent trend of watching and assessing a movie only by its music and star-cast and some said that it was the meaningless songs which were unmelodious and discordant. Some witty ones said that shopping online was the new trend. Some indoctrinated ones said that if they are trends they are senseless and if they are sensible than they have to be timeless! Some philosophical ones said that trending is a cycle, simply because retro has to be the new trend. While some said that trend doesn’t matter, others with a contradictory opinion said that trends define a person. An example was cited to support their opinion – people wearing torn jeans were considered “poor” and now, thanks to the changing trends, they are considered “trendy.” Finally, some advised to go with the timeless because trend is an indulgence, an opulence, a luxury! In this opinionated debate, I had to have a say- True happiness lies in simply playing with the momentum!

Experience of Arts Class

Chhaya Joshi, Alumnus (Class of 2014-15)

On the first day of the class I was enthusiastic and thrilled of course because I was passionate about arts and it was the first time I was venturing into it as a subject I would be examined on.
It was a phenomenal moment when I sat on the high stool and used the professional easel for the first time, sketched those beautiful yellow flowers in the bright sunlight near the basketball court sitting for hours on the green grass or sitting on stairs and sketching the palm leaves inside the school building.
There are people who can effortlessly sketch an object’s likeness, and people who struggle for hours just to get the angles and proportions right and  our teacher told that it just takes ‘a lot of practice’ and ‘the right perspective’. By the end of the first span I had learnt how to stir my imagination and enthusiasm, to take risks and do what I was most afraid of doing, to widen my horizons and that being an artist is a full time job that demands all one’s efforts and concentration and my teacher made that easy for me to do.
Our teacher used the word ‘beautiful’ rather freely and that built up my faith in myself to expose the mini miracles in my paintings. I learnt how to see things through an artist’s eye – differently, and to represent not the outward appearance of things but their inner significance. It was a startling one year long exploration.
At the threshold of the next session in my continual learning I’ve realized that Art is all about metaphor. Art enables me to find myself and lose myself at the same time. It is a self-discovery and that I reflect who I am in my artwork. It washes away the dust of daily life off my soul. I enjoyed the captivating struggle for perfection throughout.

USA – A Thrilling Experience

Hridhima Tyagi, Class VIII B

What a thrilling experience it was
To explore the earth.
To witness the wonders of human hands,
And festivals since birth.
Exploring is a medium
To gain knowledge and have fun.
We can experience different adventures,
Or simply bask in the sun.
It is better than learning from books,
Which blear your eyes,
We are deprived of awareness
And healthy exercise.
Just travel and explore the world
Be it night or day.
This is what I learnt,

From my trip to the USA!
