My Bestie

Khushi Khanna, VIII B

The sky is grey and the sun shines,
You are a friend who will always be mine
You are the answer to my question,
And the commander to this suggestion.
You are the sunshine to this morning,
And the dawn to my eye
You are my best friend, my secret diary and my other half,
You mean the world to me, you always make me laugh
I hope we are friends until we die
And then I want us to be ghost friends
And walk through the sky
You love me when I forget to love myself,
You are my only spell
You are my good morning and good night,
In every success or failure, you are my backlight
You are the heartbeat to this human,
And the one with whom I always have fun
My best chum!

Stranded Stranger

Sameehan Trivedi, IX F

A stranger in a strange land,
How much was left unknown?
From a place where darkness lies in sand,
Where was the seed of love sown?
Hiding himself from bareness.
Trapped avoiding awareness.
Appetite for attitude left unmeant,
Goodness is served, never lent.
Interaction leads to understanding,
Speaks a little voice inside him.
The place remains no longer strange,

Maybe just a new one…

You Are One Of A Kind

Saksham Jain, Class VI C

‘Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and thought has found words.’
These golden lines of the American poet Robert Frost, truly describe poetry in all ways.
I have written this poem to convey that we should be proud of who we are; we should not try to change ourselves in order to pleaes someone. So, here is an emotional take that I hope will leave you spellbound in many ways.

You are you, fly high and be free,
But all I could see
Is who the world wanted you to be.
If you are Ronaldo, there is no need to be Picasso.
You have to keep this in your mind,
You can’t be both Michael Jordan and Albert Einstein.
You might not be the most beautiful,
But you have beauty in full.
It’s okay, if they call you silly,
Don’t feel hopeless,
Don’t be heartbroken.
You are intelligent, you are smart,
Be in Dhyanchand, Kurien, Narayanmurthy or Kalam,
As a winner you will never lose your charm.
Keep your head high,
You’ve got to reach up to the sky.
It’s okay if you fail in a task,
Work hard, give your best,
Have determination and zest,
God will see the rest.
Be proud of yourself, you are unique,
If you want to be some one,
You know exactly who to be.
Tell the world you are not
What they all say.
You’ve got your own special way.
Your potential is all you need to find.
You are who you are,
Unique, different, unlike.

You are one of a kind.

Finally Over

Sanjana Goyal, Class X C

He was near the sea now, flying straight over it, facing straight out over the ocean. He saw his parents at a distance.
Startled, Cody asked, “Why are they here?”
“We had to tell your parents. This turned out to be much longer than was intended. Too many mind wipes could have destroyed their brain cells or they could have forgotten you completely,” said the aviator.
“Oh well. I wouldn’t want that, John,” Cody sighed.
John landed the aircraft, which somehow resembled Quinjet. As soon as Cody got off, he flew it away, in the direction from which they had come.
His mother came rushing towards him as he dropped his bag and gave him a bear hug. His father was next in line to do so.
“Why didn’t you tell us earlier? We were worried sick. And there were these tsunamis which could have destroyed our house and – .”
“I’m fine, mom. Look at me. I am alive.”
“Well, that’s what matters. I am proud of you, son,” his father said, smiling.
“Seriously, Harry?” his mother asked with an arched eyebrow.
“Uh, I mean, you should have told us. Your mother was worried and all that,” Harry added quickly.
“Dad, it was kind of top secret.”
“I understand. Now let’s drive home and you tell us about your whole trip on the way.”
They got into the red SUV and drove off. Cody told them about his mission in which he had gone to save the President’s son from getting kidnapped by a gang of criminals.
After he finished his story, his mother cleared her throat and asked, “You are my fourteen year old Cody Johnson, right?”

All of them laughed and Cody felt good to be at home. It was finally over.
