If I Were…

If I were a king,
On my wish, I could do anything!
If I didn’t know politics better,
I would ban it forever!
I would probably help the poor,
For doing this would be my pleasure!

If I were a bird,
I would love to sing a song for the whole world!
I would be happy to be free,
And would relish & rest in my cozy nest on a tree!…

If I were a tree,
I would love to attract the bees!
I would love to be accompanied by my friend,
Which will lead my grief to an end!
I don’t care about whatever I want to be,
But I am thankful that I am lucky to be ‘me’!

Song of the Toys

Look how I am thrown above the shelf
This is beneath the dignity of someone as important as myself
The furry panda bear whose red nose when clicked said “reee”
I used to sit by Bennie’s bed since she turned three
Now her eyes glaze over me.

I am left unknown without a cause
My controls are not yet shut down
The toy car who spanned the floors of the house
I dreamt of running the world around
I pity my hopes now.

How dusty it is where her mother made me sit
Oh how I remember the times our house rang in my chimes
The elegant fairy who hung on the window sill
I filled the house in laughters and smiles
Didn’t know so soon would come the time for goodbyes.

We cannot cry from these beaded eyes
We ache in unsaid pain behind stitched smiles
Our Bennie too found the rhythm of the crowds
To march along to
In looking for things easier to lose.

In the world’s loud noise
Drowns out the song of the toys
We can do nothing but sit here
Living the long forgotten glimpse of yesteryear
That passed a little too quickly.

The Spectacle

In the city of Philadelphia, there lived a gentleman named Justin Later. He was a peculiar and venturesome man. One day while walking through his garden he saw a cactus plant that he had planted when was young.
Suddenly, the plant began to move. Justin was frightened and ran out of the garden as fast as his legs could walk. When he left the garden, his neighbours came and saw more cactuses growing on top of each other. Soon, the whole garden was covered with cactuses. After an hour the cactuses started moving out of the garden, into the streets and destroying the houses. Everyone in the city was looking for a safe spot to stay. The cactuses were eating the local people and the tourists. All the shops, malls and parks were closed and there were cactuses wandering all around like guards.
Justin was alive and he was living in a tree house hotel with some other people. One girl among them shouted, “Oh! I need a charger, my phone is dead.” Justin was also very hungry but all they had with them was some bottles of Sprite. Justin asked the lady, “I also want some sandwiches to eat so can we both go out and get food and your charger.” One man said, “No you cannot go out, the cactuses will eat you.”
Justin and the lady still set out to buy the essentials. Slowly and carefully, they bought the stuff and escaped from the market. After some time, they were back in the hotel, safe and secure.
Justin was in his bed and he realised that it was a dream and told his mom about his dream. Both of them laughed very hard and started the day with a nice mood.

With a Final Breath

A withering man with a final breath,
Wished for a later meeting with death
For he hath things left to see on this side,
True bliss he was yet to find.

The old one, as a young lad,
Knew not the worth of joys he already had
So he sought to collect heaping piles of riches,
And washed away the prosperity he had at hand.

With his final breath, he thought of mortal regrets,
What man strives for and what he gets,
A serenity made uneternal for desires with more grandeur,
In sleepwalking through slippery roads, he bought gold that corrodes.

Praying dearly there was more to life,
Than having to face this final strife,
As his figure floats away to wake in another, he can only ponder,
How many such aimless souls this earth do wander.

Future Assumptions

What would happen in the future,
If everyone has a phone in front of their eyes?

They would not talk to each other and on ‘WHATSAPP’ they would say hi and byes
They would have huge specs and wouldn’t be able to see a thing without them
They would not want each others’ attention
So they would not say ‘Ahem-Ahem’

What would happen in the future
I don’t know nor do you
All the above are just assumptions
So don’t think they are true!

Silent

In a moment of hush,
The dark earth tugs at a soul;
Forbidden woods glisten invitingly,
To mysteries that lie beyond.

The one who blows at every hearth,
Creeps unknowingly from behind;
And when the flames extinguish’d,
Morphs into the wind and flies.

Only to long for a forgotten moment in time,
When I rang in true laughter,
And my voice hath not echoed
In empty chambers and ceilings.

My mouth acts in oblivion
Of every comforting song to sing,
A tragic awakening comes by fall
When I dreamt of another joyful spring.

In mortal form my senses
Show the senseless locked away;
And shadows wail as they dissipate
To the touch of falling sunrays.

Carefree gray pebbles here
Part to give people way;
But exist grave stones that instead
Make moving people stay.

In light of strange faces I attempt a disguise
To have only gleeful times treasured for me;
But when the truth erupts in silence,
Every soldier is to buckle and end up falling.

My mind remains devoid,
Of every blissful melody.
Feet that tapped to rhythms on the ground,
Now lay silently below it.

Beauty

Heard everyone talking about her
Well she got me nowhere
But she gave me a lot too
A pool of tears
A sea of fears
And an ocean of liars
It’s a lot she gave me.
Heard people are changing themselves for her
Please hear me out
She’ll lead you to an ugly place
Maybe you find her on other’s face
Maybe she’s your heart’s pace
Maybe she’s just a part of the race.
Heard she helps you find “love”
Pardon me, it’s never true
She’s all about ‘who are you?’
She’s in each one, not in a few
She’s just lost, maybe it’s her toxic crew
But BEAUTY got me nowhere once I got up and grew.
Heard she’s part of our soul
Maybe that’s true
Heard about loyalty and kindness
Maybe that’s our next clue.
