But when she is scolded, he keeps quiet.

He always runs here and there,

But when he falls he laughs at himself.

When he wakes up he sits quietly,

But when he doesn’t find his mother, he starts to cry.

He is cute but naughty too,

My dear brother Shashwat, I love you!

My brother who is ten and a half,

Is the dearest pal I have.

He’s all I have through thick and thin,

Since he’s my twin brother.

A very friendly chap is he,

Always willing to help.

We share all our joys and sorrows together,

But still manage to fight!

Our quarrels once resolved,

We still decide to spend most times together.

For there is no one in this world I feel,

Who can be so dear as my brother.

No leisure, no arrogance,

He just aimed for freedom’s fragrance.

He struggled for our rights,

Incredible was his non-violent fight.

Inspiring was his Quit India Movement,

Which emerged as India’s achievement.

When people in Jalliawala Bagh cried,

He united the Indian tribe.

None stopped lamenting when he died,

But his guides kept us tied.

People obeyed his commands,

He spun the independence and the yarn.

She’s a bundle of love

As pure and peaceful as a white dove.

She is fair,

And has hair everywhere.

She is delicate and affectionate,

I give her the certificate of being effeminate.

She is full of energy and so quick,

Even before you realize, your specks would’ve had a lick.

I feel so excited and delighted,

When she wakes up in the night

And her eyes shine bright.

She becomes relieved and happy,

When we change her nappy.

I’m waiting for her to grow

And I really want her to know

That she adds colours in my life,

Just like a rainbow!

My Wonderful Mother
