As a Shishyan I Learn That…

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Life outside the classroom does not take exams subject-wise,

And everyone who cares for you is nice.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Being decorous makes us look polite,

Makes us mannered in one’s sight,

And even prevents fights.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Equations and formulas are important but,

Lack of self-confidence will make be our Achille’s heel.

Tenses, articles and prepositions are the key to success,

But, the need of leadership skills is also there to keep

Us independent and make one better with each step.

History, motion, ‘vachan’ are the best

But only if we put them to the test.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Being friendly will bring beautiful colours and erase

The world of solitude and worry.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Resilience, spirituality, perseverance and humanity are

The real hallmarks of compassion, confidence and strength

Because life outside the classroom does not

Take exams subject-wise.

Recipe, Passion and Cake

This is a story.

The story of a little girl,

Who lived to eat her cake.

But no matter how hard she tried,

She could never learn to bake.

She had sugar, butter, eggs and flour,

But little did she know,

To make the cake she needed batter,

And not a rubbery dough.

She tried all books and cookery shows,

But could never learn the art.

And then came her mother, who whispered the secret,

The recipe was in her heart.

The things you love, come back to you,

No matter what,

cooking and baking were her passion,

Not something one could impart.

She then baked and cooked,

Cooked and baked, and there was nothing,

She was now the owner of the finest

Bakery in town

And there was no looking back!
