Book Review: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

This book review is of one of the world’s most famous story lines, Harry Potter’s lesser-known part The Cursed Child. This book revolves around Albus Severus Potter, the son of the hero of the prior books, Harry Potter. The main villain of this story Delphini Diggory aka Aubrey is the daughter of the villain of the prior books Lord Voldemort or The Dark Lord. Delphini is obsessed with a prophecy which says – When spares are spared, when time is turned, when overshadowed sons kill their fathers, then shall the dark lord return.
The first line of this prophecy refers to the 4th book of the series The Goblet of Fire when Lord Voldemort commanded his servant to kill a person named Cedric Diggory by saying ‘Kill the spare’. The second line refers to a device called The Time Turner which helps one go back in time. The third line suggests Albus killing his father Harry Potter; Then the dark lord will return.
In this story Delphini makes Amos Diggory believe that she is his nephew and tries to manipulate Albus into doing all the things told in the prophecy. As a first move, by saying that Cedric’s father Amos Diggory would be happy to see his son back with him she put Albus into an emotional turmoil and he agrees to help Delphini meet his father. They went back in time to the first challenge of the Triwizard cup in The Goblet of Fire. When they meddled with the challenge and made Cedric fail the task by disarming him which made an alternate timeline which in which Ron Weasley marries Padma Patel and Hermione Granger goes insane; but as Albus and Scorpius do not like the new reality they go back in time again and fix everything.
The next time Delphini convinces Albus to go to the second task of the Triwizard tournament and there Albus inflated Cedric thus he failed the task which caused another alternate timeline in which Cedric becomes a death eater and kills Neville Longbottom because of which Harry dies and Voldemort takes over. In this timeline Hermione and Severus Snape form a resistance and fight against the rule of Voldemort.
The third time Delphini threatens to kill Scorpius and takes them to the third task of the Triwizard tournament in which they are saved by Cedric himself.
In the fourth and final attempt she goes back in time and stops her father (Voldemort) from visiting the house of the Potters due to which Harry will not be special and can be easily killed by Voldemort, but her plans are foiled by Harry, Hermione, Ginny, Draco and Ron as they disguise Harry as Voldemort and capture her. This is where the story ends.
This book gives us a feeling of adventure and uses imagery to make us feel like we are in the story. This book also tells us what would have happened to the Harry potter series if Cedric did not die.

Butterfly

Butterfly
When I see a butterfly
I wonder where it came from
From the chamber of Independence to pond of hard work
Every step she takes is of bravery
Every breath it takes can be the last
But still she stands tall with beauty and grace
But she still forges ahead towards the void of emptiness
But she still keeps hope for a sweeter flower tomorrow.

Carefree
I see outside my window an eagle soaring by
With all its charm and glamour
And the
Darkness within its conscience
With its duplicitous personality
And the
Demon within its soul
It sours high in the sky
Without a care
Of those who despise them anymore

My Mother

Your cry breaks my heart,
Your smile makes my day.
Your sadness gives me disappointment,
Your laughter leads my way.

This is whom I am talking about,
Yes, my mother from heaven.
She is multi talented,
And works 24 / 7.

She scolds me for good,
She loves me to infinity.
She knows every recipe I like,
She provides me with every basic amenity.

I act like I don’t care,
But I do.
Nobody loves her as much as I love her,
Without giving her any clue.

The Dusky Exotics

Nature, The Nurturer
Being One with Nature is fulfilling the nurturer with unimaginable joy and profound beauty. The blooms are replenishing the nurturer with an ethereal tranquility and exuberance. They are symbolising that every flower is a soul blossoming in nature. The vibrancy of the nurturer’s smile radiates unbridled happiness and appreciation for the simple pleasure of being in proximity with mother nature.

The Dusky Exotics
The white blooms preciously fragile are emanating great harmony and magic. The white blooms are not exuding an absence of colour! On the contrary, they are exhibiting the presence of all the colours. The blooms are restful to look at and their beauty and charm symbolise purity, eternity and spirituality.

Smiles are Contagious
The beaming and sparkling eyes of the boy are spreading infectious enthusiasm and the precious privilege of being alive. The smile is emitting happiness and a glint of mischief and fun. It seems to be inviting others to join his innocent and carefree world full of laughter and pleasure. His smile is making others smile thereby turning the world into a paradise.

Travel: Into the Unknown

A travel blogger is what I want to be
I like to write and read and travel
And so I think it’s best for me
Travelling round the world
All ready to explore and see
So many things to feel and to do
Just think what fun it would be
Discovering different cultures,
Exploring new destinations
Sharing your feeling and experience
With everybody who wants to see
I make memories galore
Making my brain think
Oh, this job is just so good
It lures me on every time I try to resist!

Birth of Legacies

When the sun got blind,
There was no sunshine,
No ray of hope,
Oh! the end of time.

People enslaved for 200 years,
Hoping for some musketeers,
Not to fight for the British,
But for their rule to finish.

To free the people of India from tyranny
Of the East India Company,
Who slaughtered and ruled,
It was time they got overruled.

To show the power of the Indian soil,
worshipped by the farmers,
brought us up,
made with guilt, regret and blood.

The world we live in now was never the same,
The British had to be tamed.
With thousands of armours,
Made with valor and hot blood.

Yes! It was the time to kick these foreigners.
The soil which is now beautiful and fertile,
Was before in a state of turmoil.

We think it is made with rocks and stones,
Its actual constituents, spears, blood, tears and moans.
It had to face a lot of difficulty,
To make the future live liberally.

Millions of people gave their lives away,
To make the world what it is today.
India-a country with innumerable power,
The love and pride of all.

The cheer of the army,
The celebration of a victory,
The happiness after winning the Olympics,
The future of all.

Inner Beauty

There were two girls, Samridhi and Surbhi. They were sisters but totally different in nature. Samridhi was intelligent and kind but she was ugly. She used to utilize her time in studying, whereas Surbhi was beautiful but mean. She used to waste her time on makeovers and on enhancing her looks. She used to tease Samridhi as she was not beautiful. Both belonged to a poor family. They barely had enough money to get food and water.

Once an old man visited them. The man looked poor and weak. Samridhi offered him water but Surbhi refused to even talk to him. After some time the man said to Samridhi  “You are very sweet dear I can’t afford anything to give you as a gift but I can tell you a secret,” he whispered. He said that there is a cave inside which there is a stone. If you answer a set of questions that the stone asks correctly then you will get a treasure.

Samridhi was on cloud nine when she heard the old man. Surbhi was eavesdropping. The next morning Samridhi left early, Surbhi followed her. When Samridhi entered the cave and Surbhi was about to, a rock came in between and Surbhi got stuck outside. Inside the cave Samridhi saw an enormous rock and it said “Welcome dear. I am going to ask you a few questions. Will you be able to answer those?”

Samridhi said “Yes.”  Then the rock asked her “ Which animal dies when it drinks water?” Samridhi answered, “It’s a kangaroo rat.” The rock smiled then he asked “Who built the Jama Masjid?” Again Samridhi replied correctly, “Ahmed Shah built it.” The rock was impressed with Samridhi. It said, “It is clear that you are capable, so here is your treasure.”

Samridhi was over the moon, she exited that place and then came Surbhi. She was furious and she asked the rock, “Where is that ugly girl?” It asked Surbhi the same things that it had asked Samridhi but the reaction was completely different. She laughed and said “You are going to ask me something so come on ask.” It asked her the same questions but she was totally blank. She didn’t know anything then the rock ordered her to get out. Surbhi got scared and ran away, Samridhi purchased a huge house and lived happily ever after.

Moral – If you are not kind-hearted and wise there is no use of any other talent.

That Box

I hate that thing in your hand
Says the little Yahoo in the way he can
I hate that little box
Which is always there in your pocket
I wish I had the power
So I could throw it
Into the sky like a rocket

That harmless looking thing is a curse
That thing eats up all your time
Which should be mine
You always carry in your purse
That thing holds your brain
In its so strong invisible metallic chain
Your head doesn’t see me anymore
That box made an invisible door
You’re trapped on the other side
So am I.

My tail keeps wagging
My lungs keep panting
My young eyes light up as I smell your scent
But each time
Off you went..

Dear Eva, I miss you
I miss your touch on my belly
I miss the little giggles I heard
When we used to play near our house’s door
Can you pls keep that box away now ?
It won’t go anywhere.

I miss you
I miss you
Please hear my barks if you can
Come near me let’s play with the ball
Like we used to again.
We played under the shady tree
Happier than we had ever been
We laughed in the way we could
When we went on our treasure hunts.
I still weep remembering how you used to dress me up
Like a princess and we had our own royal ball.

I can’t forget how you hugged me when I got my shots.
You were there when I broke my leg
You didn’t sleep all night.
Where is that girl now
It’s all because of that little box …
Dear Eva, it’s been a few years
You have grown up
You are so tall now
But your hands still embrace that shiny box
Which now I only dream could be me.

I don’t think I can convince you
Something feels different this time
I don’t have the same energy anymore
The young man with the white coat comes often these days
Checks all over me here and there
I feel exhausted now
My barks aren’t as loud as they used to be.
After all this now I am no longer able to wag my tail that quick
Or have the strength to dash towards your face and give it a sweet lick
My legs feel numb
My breath has become slower
It’s been years since you bent lower
To pat my head
That box in your hand has made me invisible

Then when I one day faded
You finally noticed
The invisible chain then you opened
And pulled me in your embrace
Where I was dying to get
But now I am already gone
I wish I had a few more minutes
To see you again without that box in your hands
To see your eyes again
Without the reflection of the screen
To see you smile
But I guess it wasn’t in the cards for me.

I tried to call out to you when I wasn’t able to feel your tears on my body
I can see you from far as you’re crying while hugging that body which used to be mine
The way your heart hurts right now is the way mine did when you didn’t come to me
That box in your hand made you forget me.
But it’s okay my dear
I’ll always love you

No matter what happens, my love for you will never change.
I hope as I watch from afar, I see you holding another of my kind,
The only thing that reflects your eyes, should be love
And your head should see it while your heart feels the same euphoric emotion as it does,
I want my Eva back, the caring one.
Now I take my leave.
