The Dinosaur Problem

Lakshya Somane, Class VII E

Porter Pig was a very famous pig on farms all across the world. Not only could he lift a barn above his head, but he also had the best snout that anyone had ever seen. Porter Pig was the best at sniffing out trouble. He could smell trouble from fifty miles away. Whenever Porter Pig found trouble, he was always able to fix the problem and make everything okay. Farmers all over the world asked to see Porter Pig, hoping that they would be able to use his strength and snout to make their farm peaceful. One day, on a farm in the south, Porter Pig was sniffing for trouble when he smelled the worst smell he could ever imagine. Porter Pig rushed over to the barn where the smell was very strong. He lifted up the huge barn above his head, and there it was staring right into his eyes. Porter Pig had never seen anything like this before.
The story continued…
It was a weird looking creature. Not so huge, could fit in your hand! Porter Pig picked it up, but the creature bit him with its razor-sharp teeth and jumped out of his hands. Porter Pig gave a cry and ran to his house. He kept on thinking about the little creature and got on the computer to do a little research.
He found that it was a baby dinosaur. The only one existing in the world. Its mother was in a special lab in Los Angeles where some tests were going on. He also found that the lab had reported a lost baby dinosaur about 5 inches long. The report further said that the dinosaur was probably stolen and shipped to a farm far away.
Porter Pig jumped up with fear. He quickly bought a piece of meat and rushed towards the barn. He gave the dinosaur that piece of meat. The dinosaur devoured it in seconds. Porter Pig named the dinosaur Fubby.
The dinosaur came towards Porter Pig in a friendly manner. As soon as Fubby got onto  Porter Pig’s hand, a noise came from the door and a group of heavily armed men came through. Their leader was dressed in a suit and looked quite rich. He had come to take Fubby.
Porter Pig wasn’t going to let that happen. He said that if they wanted to take Fubby, they’d have to go through him. As soon as he had said this, the rich man gave a signal and all his men’s guns were aimed at Porter Pig.
Porter Pig shouted something. Something in Latin. Nothing happened and the men laughed. The rich man had made a terrible mistake. They were soon surrounded by a huge number of farmers. The armed men were outnumbered five to one.
While the farmers and the rich man’s men fought, Porter Pig slipped away in his truck with Fubby. He drove at full speed and in about 5 hours reached the lab. The guards questioned him but on seeing Fubby, the gates were opened.

Fubby was safely deposited and Porter Pig was thanked by the scientists. They sent some guards with Porter Pig to take care of the men in the barn. The next day Porter Pig’s name was printed in the newspaper for his bravery. And he had fixed one more problem.

God

Devik Rajani, Class IX A

He is the one who created man
But man created instead a virtual pain
He is the reality which we don’t accept
And try to stay in our virtual concept
He graces us with desire and power
And we use it in building virtual harbours
He is infinite light and sound
Which is our necessity around
We pray to Him only in bad times
But He is the one who graces us good time
He acts like a parent
But we say it’s our talent
He gives us love and passion
But we please mobile and fashion
We search here and there
But He is everywhere
He forgives us our sins
Without seeing race, region or religion.

The Person I Love The Most – Mother

Kavya Julka, Class X A

Whenever I am tired, your warm hug refreshes me,
Whenever I am upset, your wonderful talks impress me,
I relish every dish you cook,
I love your every new look,
You taught me how to handle situations,
And yeah, even taught me simple calculations.
When I did something wrong, you scolded me,
When I did something great, you appreciated me.
You helped me build my confidence,
And everyone knows it, perhaps it needs no evidence.
You prepared me for the race,
A race into the future,
To a place where I don’t know.
But, you made me versatile
That now I am prepared for any foe.
You have always taught me to respect others
And now I write this poem
To give respect to everything you did.
You are the person whom I have loved the most,
And your love and affection towards me has no cost.
I am sure you would love this and always love me,
Because you are the kind I want to be.

I Saw You

Dakshita Deshmukh, Class IX B

I saw you in that toothless smile
Of the down-on-his-luck stranger
When I offered him
My juicy pinkish ripe peach
Left over from my afternoon lunch…
Oh! How his smile shone so…
I saw you in that twinkle in my sister’s eye
As I chased her around the park
Climbing up and down the slide
Across the bridges through tubes and tunnels
Playing a simple game of tag…
Oh! How those eyes twinkled with love…
I saw you in that couple walking on the sandy beach
Hand in hand under the setting sky
The rich hues of yellow, orange and red
Floating in the clouds up high…
Oh! How their passion radiated…
I saw you in that beautiful rose
Opening up so fresh and new
Brightening up my garden…
Oh! How beautiful was that sight…
I see you all around
In love, in kindness, in care
In nature’s beauty, in life…
I see you…

Bugs or Cockroaches?

Tanya Thakur, Class VIII F

Once upon a time, there were two friends who lived near Church Street. Their names were Josh and Dave. One day, they had a fight over a petty reason and both of them parted ways. Poor Josh went to the grove near the Bridge of Alan and sat down sorrowfully. He kept on trying until he realized that two tiny creatures were crawling on his shirt.
One was going towards the left and the other was going towards the right. Josh was afraid of insects and hence, he shouted, “Cockroaches! Help me! There are cockroaches on my shirt.”
The tiny insects fell because of Josh’s rapid and unsteady movements. Josh was just going to run away when he heard the two insects mumbling something to each other. Perhaps they were having a small fight! The first insect, a female, started shouting at the male. She said, “It’s all because of you! You look like a cockroach and not me. It is because of you that I fell down.” But the male spoke in defiance, “No, you are the one who forced me to crawl up the boy’s shirt. And we are bugs, not cockroaches. It is not my mistake that the boy cannot distinguish between a bug and a cockroach.”
The two got into a prolonged fight. That’s when Josh decided to speak up. He said, “Excuse me! Can I help you out of the fight?” The bugs glared at him. Nevertheless, he told them that it was his mistake because of which the bugs were fighting. “I am really sorry. I had a fight with my friend too. It was also because of a petty reason that we fought. My eyes were full of tears and I couldn’t see properly. That is why I was afraid and thought that you were cockroaches”, Josh said.
The bugs looked at each other and looked back at Josh. Josh continued, “Please forgive each other. Do not fight because of me. Please reconcile.” The bugs started to cry and hugged each other.
Josh was now in a better mood and he bid the bugs goodbye. He returned to reconcile with his friend, Dave. He felt that fighting with a dear friend for no reason was very stupid and that such small fights should not part friends.

Later on, Josh and Dave became friends once again and lived happily as best friends.

The Barn-Saver

Shrey Modi, Class VII F

He lifted up the huge barn above his head, and there it was staring right into his eyes. Porter Pig had never seen anything like this before.
The story continued…
He saw a large insect like thing which was eating grains. Porter Pig tried to scare it off but the insect bit Porter Pig. So, Porter Pig got poisoned and was hospitalized for a week. After a week, Porter Pig started searching for ways to decrease the size of the insect and the insect kept intruding barns and eating grains. One day Porter Pig met an old sage. The sage asked him, “What problem do you have?” Porter Pig told him the problem.
The sage told Porter Pig about a precious stone that could be found on the Mount Everest peak. If Porter Pig could bring that stone, the sage could make a potion out of it to decrease the insect’s size.
So, Porter Pig set out on the journey to the peak of Mount Everest. On the way, he faced many difficulties. At last he reached the peak. There was a temple made of gold which contained a god’s statue and the stone in the temple was guarded by a yeti.
Porter Pig couldn’t defeat the yeti but then he remembered that he had the poison of the insect that the doctor had given him. Porter Pig defeated the yeti using the poison. He got the stone and returned to the sage.
The sage immediately made the potion using that stone. Now, Porter Pig had to make the insect consume that potion. He had an idea. He sprinkled the potion on the world’s largest barn and hid there.

After a week or two, the insect came and started eating the grains from that barn. Very soon the potion started acting and the insect became small. So small that Porter Pig could crush it to death. After that, everybody praised Porter Pig and the sage and Porter Pig got the title of ‘Barn Saver’!
