Black and White

Black is Black and
White is white
Just as we have marble and granite
Both are pure for sure
As one shows darkness and one shows light

Black is black and
White is white
Just as we have pepper and salt

Black is black and
White is white
Just as we have diamonds and graphite

Black is black and
White is white
Just as we have day and night
Both are opposites yet alike

Black is black and
White is white
Just as we have Covid and co-vaccine
Though there is darkness yet we have a ray of light

Black is black and
White is white

Being Turned Down

The people I loved turned me down
When I needed them the most they never replied
Is it only me or is it happening with everyone around
I’m scared to trust and love
Because I was turned down
I want that one moment of happiness
That feeling which I couldn’t experience for months
I want to live freely and without the fear of getting hurt
But I can’t
Because once I was turned down
They say I’m dramatic and an over thinker
Useless and ugly
I’m scared I don’t disagree
Because once I was turned down
Love is hard to find but
Rightly said once found
Makes one blind
Sometimes I wonder what is actually love
The one I could never find

The Forlorn Tree

With the cracked ground
Starving for water,
There begins a new thought
The little sapling caught
Between two worlds-
The sky beckoning and the ground seizing.

It begins its journey
On the unprecedented
Shying away from all adversity
In what it deems possible.

Goes on and on,
Gathering all energy and vigour
Standing firmly to the ground
All the while reaching for the sky.

And when it looked beneath
saw that it wasn’t the
Lone forlorn tree anymore.

Black

BLACK
What is black ?
A colour
Or
Absence of colour

I am BLACK. I love my darkness in the night. I am the essence of
art who brings all colours together, not tear them apart.
I am in the black hole as it says and polished shoes of children and
businessmen.
I am the colour to be handled with care as I am present in the
universe everywhere.
In the eyeballs I’m there allowing to see the world out there.
One might wonder the arrival of beauty and gladness of the sun
shining bright due to my calmness in the night .
I am the fear present in a dark room,
I am the smoke of a burning fire,
I am the worst thing that can ever happen,
I am a mystery and symbolize the depth of life.
I am BLACK
The colour of life.

Song of the Nightbird

This poem by Rashi featured in an issue of the renowned children’s newspaper, RobinAge (November 26 – December 09, 2020). It has also been published in a poetry anthology “PS-It’s Poetry”, by the PoetrySoup, a poetry portal.

Deep in the hollow the night at its height,
Song of the nightbird echoing in the quiet,
Stillness as that of the past in our hearts,
As once again the nightbird starts,
Call of the wild in the deep groove,
The nightbird on a constant move,
All across the forest drizzling raindrops,
Shining sapphires, the lovely dew drops,
Reflection in silence in nature’s abode,
Away from the bustle of the angry road,
Tenderly gripping, the greenness of the new,
To the beginnings of those touching the blue,
Magic of the moonlight so mesmerising,
A flurry of emotions slowly arising,
Whispering quietly the flow of the brooks,
Melodies bursting from hidden nooks,
Songs of silence filling the quiet,
Deep in the hollow the night at its height……
