Jack and Jill

Here’s a story of Jack and Jill,

And not the cliched, run-of-the-mill.

For in this modern eye-opener,

There is only a metaphorical hill.

Jack was fed up of the job

That was earning him money.

He had ideas in his head which

The whole world found funny.

Under the pressure of his peers,

He slogged all day at work.

Jill, his best friend thought that

Jack’s ideas were superb.

Upon seeing Jill’s interest in the project,

Jack told her to proceed.

He secretly laughed at her innocence,

Didn’t think she would succeed.

Jill’s business like a wild fire,

Spread from New York to Tashkent.

While all that was left for Jack,

Was to sit and repent.

Jack continued his daytime job,

Just enough to pay his bills.

While Jill dared to take the first step,

And climb the metaphorical hills.

Sun

Soft rays of the sun

So wondrous and lovely

Fill everyone’s heart with hope

Every morning, filling us with gratitude

It is a source of freshness for one and all

Convincing us to move forward and rise above all.

                   Shreya Shukla

Sun

Along eastside

The bright sunshine

Seven in the morning

All vermilion

And here it rises

With a great shine.

                   Dhwani Khatwani

Rain

The rain

Brings darkness

Symbolising darkness

Like a dark night

But still after that

Comes a bright morning

Tornado

The tornado comes

Like charging bulls

Full of energy, full of life

But causes destruction

Like an avalanche.

                   Ishaan Yadav

Sea

Where blue meets blue

At the horizon, at the bright dawn

The waves come and go

Dropping behind the rocky and

Precious glittering sand.

Mountains

Moutains are so huge

And pretty

When it rains

It seems that

They have been erased

From the face of the earth.

                   Tanya Sadh

Snow

The snow falls

Hiding all the other siblings of nature

Expressing its presence over all of them

Bringing with it the festivity of Christmas

With decorated homes

And messy children.

                   Soumya Parwal

Tornado

The tornado comes with a rage

Taking all the things

Coming in its way

It causes destruction

All over the place

It takes people’s

Houses and tears them away.

Summer

With the chocolates and ice-cream mode on

Picnics and water all day

With the anxiety when the holidays will end

It’s the holy season of summer

With candyfloss all over.

Khushi Jain

Clouds

The clouds rise from the lake

And settle at the foot of the hills

The hills look at them

But cannot look at them for long

As the sun rises

And the clouds lift away.

Shreyas Kumar

Winters

It brings sneezes and shivers

Bear like creatures walking all around

Tea and cakes people have, sitting beside the fireplace

Red cheeks, red nose and a handkerchief in hand

The winters are the season of sleep and chocolate.

Sun

The sun jostling through the sky

Reaches the earth

Kick starts the day with tea and cheer

It stares into dark eyes which gleam

And look like fresh honey

It wakes up the buds and wishes ‘Morning, its sunny!’

Suhani Salgia

Winter

The winter comes

Slowly creeping in

It builds up gradually

Like a wave

But then the sun comes out

And the cold crashes down.

Pratyush Shrivastava

Fire

The fire can destroy

The fire can build

Everyone has his own

Fate and will

The fire ignites and

Enlightens the soul.

Clouds

Clouds are roaming cotton candies

Fluffy and moist

Mornings are a treat to watch

When they let the sun from heaven

Touchdown on the earth.

Radhika Bhagwat

Rain

It’s October and the rain is still here

It started off with a peaceful drizzle

Making all around a misty landscape

But at times it turns violent

Causing destruction by raining 24X7.

Aryaman Singh

Sun

It is a bright beautiful day

Birds sitting on the tree

with little warmth in the atmosphere

the sun shines so bright

giving most of its light

to the world in sight.

Fog – 1

Rain

The rain comes

Like cats and dogs hustling around

It seems calm for sometime

But turns violent as if a sudden flash

Of memory.

Vrinda Modi

Snow

The snow comes

And makes the environment placid

Children come out of their houses

Like little snow men clapping

Playing with balls of snow

And making winter smile

Vinushree Patel

Smog

The smog comes

Along with the smoke

Not silent like the fog

Crashing the cars and the trucks

Over the highways

And the streets to walk

Arnav Jain

Rain

The pleasant showers of rain

Looking like strings of pearls

Nurture the little plants

The flowers are blooming

The dirt is disappearing

Like a bad dream.

Harshita Parkhi

Rain

You never know when its going to come with a surprise

Its like pearls falling from the sky

It has a smell of pleasure in it, with a snack!

Though it drenches you completely

It brings a smile on your face.

Ashita Singh

The Yellow Star

After the melancholy darkness

Comes the yellow star

Generating a lot of happiness

For the funny sunflower

Cherishing my soul again

When it buries its feet in the dust.

Jahnavi Mokshmar

Rain

All away there is smell

Of wet mud

And puddles of water everywhere

Children dancing in the rain

Enjoying, playing with their friends

A peocock’s dance announces rain’s arrival.

Aagam Bandi

Rain

The rain comes

On the waiting leaves

It rests there

As a mirror to the jungle

But then drop by drop

Disappears into the soil.

Kunal Bansal

Clouds

Fluffy-fluffy like cushions

Hovering over the sky

With their vivid colours

Magical powers they have

Never do they come down

They take so much pride in themselves.

Dream to make your city fit and disease free

Green City, Clean City.

The Truth of Man

Once there was a little boy

Who wanted to disappear,

Just play with his toy.

Since birth he had only one fear,

He feared Man, I’ll tell you why.

Men are selfish, cruel and naïve

They’re driven crazy by pleasures of life,

They are possessive and controlling,

And believe only they’re hard-working.

Men think they’re better than the rest,

But a bird too works to build her nest.

A lion works and catches its prey.

A chicken runs from being served on a tray.

To the little boy I must say,

The trust is sad – Man is bad!

And to man himself I must say –

There’s a thin line between use and exploit

Everything is finishing day-by-day,

The end of humankind is not far away!

Deep From My Heart

In a world full of foes, I was all alone.

The songs which were once beautiful, now without a tone.

I was tired of people not real; all I wanted was to make my life clear,

Sort things out, strengthen relationships,

All that I could see were problems and hardships.

Forget the problems, forget the foes

Try finding peace in the utter chaos,

Unleash the wanderer, who lives in your soul,

Forget the fake and the people who are a mole.

Your heart is your coach, your friend, your guide

Listen to it, your life will be a smooth slide.

Train it, make it your best enemy,

In a jiffy you’ll deal with all the felony.

Believe in your heart, believe in yourself,

The hardships will vanish, all by itself.

Be strong, give your soul a head start,

Make your life beautiful, like a masterpiece of art.

As a Shishyan I Learn That…

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Life outside the classroom does not take exams subject-wise,

And everyone who cares for you is nice.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Being decorous makes us look polite,

Makes us mannered in one’s sight,

And even prevents fights.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Equations and formulas are important but,

Lack of self-confidence will make be our Achille’s heel.

Tenses, articles and prepositions are the key to success,

But, the need of leadership skills is also there to keep

Us independent and make one better with each step.

History, motion, ‘vachan’ are the best

But only if we put them to the test.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Being friendly will bring beautiful colours and erase

The world of solitude and worry.

As a Shishyan I learn that,

Resilience, spirituality, perseverance and humanity are

The real hallmarks of compassion, confidence and strength

Because life outside the classroom does not

Take exams subject-wise.

Recipe, Passion and Cake

This is a story.

The story of a little girl,

Who lived to eat her cake.

But no matter how hard she tried,

She could never learn to bake.

She had sugar, butter, eggs and flour,

But little did she know,

To make the cake she needed batter,

And not a rubbery dough.

She tried all books and cookery shows,

But could never learn the art.

And then came her mother, who whispered the secret,

The recipe was in her heart.

The things you love, come back to you,

No matter what,

cooking and baking were her passion,

Not something one could impart.

She then baked and cooked,

Cooked and baked, and there was nothing,

She was now the owner of the finest

Bakery in town

And there was no looking back!
