We’ve been in lockdown quite a while,
It’s getting hard to raise a smile,
I sometimes force a rictus grin,
But everything is wearing thin.
In lockdown clothes are getting tight,
No exercise builds an appetite.
The government tells everyone to stay in,
But everyone skips and hops
They crowd the beaches, the parks,
And stand in line for hours, outside the shops.
But everyone finds a way to forget yesterday.
Hope tomorrow’s bright! But for today,
Please stay at home and pray.

Love of Travelling
You are just a visitor
In the land of the creator.
Enjoy your visit –
Flying in the open sky
Like a tranquil eagle,
Having a whale of a time,
Reading a mystery novel
Or by a trip around the world.
Travelling is a game of joy !!!
It reveals the mystery and dreams of the traveller.
Exploring new places excites me,
Let’s prepare and pack our bags with bread, butter and brie.
It is fun going across hills, rivers, oceans or mountains,
And remember even after travelling miles your energy will sustain.
Wandering around learning different languages or different cultures
Adds on to your knowledge,
One day you will acknowledge.
That is why someone has well said –
“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page ” Who says travelling is ridiculous? Ask me, it is just miraculous !!
A Crown of Gold
Some children were at play on the ground. The road from the market twisted round the hills, then rose and fell to reach here. One day, a herald rode into the town, blowing his trumpet and crying aloud, “All hail the King! His Majesty passes by this road to-day. Make ready for the King!”
One child said, “Did you hear that? The King is coming here. He might peek over the wall and look at our playground; who knows?”
“I’m sure that he wouldn’t like it this way. We must put it in order.”
But the playground was very messy, for these were careless children. Scraps of paper and broken toys littered the corners. One of them brought a hoe, another a rake and just behind the garden gates, they found a brilliant, red wheelbarrow. They labored hard, ’til at length all was clean and tidy.
“Now it is clean! But we shall make it pretty too; for kings are used to fine things. He may not notice mere cleanliness. He has it all the time.”
Then one brought sweet rushes and strewed them onto the ground; another made garlands of oak leaves and pine tassels and ran to hang them on the walls. They brought an army of rhododendrons, which they found by the river, and put them in old vases to decorate the place. The littlest one fetched some marigold buds and spread them on the ground beneath the tallest of trees. “To make it look like gold,” he said.
When all was done, the park was so beautiful that the children stood and looked at it, and clapped their hands in pleasure.
“Let us keep it always like this!” they said in unison.
Many people came and saw the children’s hard work, and applauded them. One lady even suggested they hang a few bougainvilleas across the length of the wall, which they did.
They waited all day for the King, but he never came; only a man with worn-out clothes and a tired face came towards sunset.
“What a pleasant place! May I come in and rest here, dear children?” the man said. They brought him in gladly and set him on the seat that they had made out of a cask. They had laid an old, red cloak on it to make it look like a throne, and for now, it made a pretty good one.
“It is our playground,” the children said proudly. “We made it for the King himself, but he never came, so now, we mean to keep it for ourselves.
“That is good!” said the man.
“Because we think pretty and clean is nicer than ugly and dirty!” exclaimed another child.
“That is even better!”
“And for tired people to rest in!” said the smallest one.
“That is best of all!”
The man sat there and rested for a while. The children brought him a cup of water, their best one of course, with some rosemary sprigs. He looked at them with such kind eyes that they opened their heart out to them; they told him about the funny, old mailman; and the puppies they saw at the market; and how scared they were of clowns. The man nodded all along.
Then he thanked them and proceeded to leave. He touched their heads and gave them a warm smile. The children slowly watched him walk away. It was fairly still, for soon the sun would go to bed. The trees and bushes whispered among each other, birds made way for their home and the quiet road fell asleep again.
“He looked so tired!” said one of them.
“Yes, but he was so kind!”
“See!” the littlest one said. “How the Sun shines on his hair! It looks like a crown of gold.”
Earth Poem
7 continents, 195 countries, 10000 cities is the earth
Blue, cool breeze of water is the earth
Green beauty of the forest is the earth
Earth is a place which is alive
Blue and green planet
Where lives thrive
One of a kind in the milky way
Earth is the only place where humans have a say
Earth is a beauty
Earth is sunshine
The earth is healing, now everything’s fine.
The Enigma
Who am I?
I don’t know who I am!
Which kind of temperament do I have?
Tranquil or wrathful…
Peaceful or quiet?
Am I sociable or hostile?
Am I pragmatic or simply vile?
Am I a top-notch sister?
Or just a walking disaster?
Do I handle situations with utmost finesse?
And just giggle when under stress?
Am I versatile, I’d say obviously,
I do yoga, art, lawn tennis,
Even talking – quite seriously.
Even if you’re afraid, my head would swell
I implore you, and beg you, and exhort you,
Oh please tell, tell, tell!
Hot Summer days
It’s the time of scorching days and nights,
What about a jump in water from a great height!!
This is the time of tangy fruits
like Mango, Grapes and Watermelon
So what about chilled water, sugar and lemon!!
It’s the time of summer vacation,
So, it is the time to go out
through the airport or the railway station.
It’s the time to go onto the beaches,
and enjoy eating sweet cherries and litchis.
You guessed it correct, my friend
It’s the time of Summers, and
I wish you a happy goodbye!!!
Honesty
There is a voice inside you, it tells you not to lie.
There is a voice inside you that tells you not to spy.
The voice inside tells you to say the truth even in a catastrophe.
The voice inside that beckons you to return every lost penny.
A great man once said no legacy is as rich as honesty, and the voice inside is that fact’s testimony.
The voice inside that tells us to be fair, to say the truth and be a dear.
Being honest costs nothing.
But the truth can get you everything
That’s why the quiet voice inside
Teaches us,
Good old honesty.
Women’s Day
A woman. A woman is a wife, a sister, a friend, a daughter, a mother, a guide and what not! She has multiple roles to play in our society. Women are homemakers and that is the problem. People think that managing a house is an effortless job but women are homemakers because men cannot manage the house as perfectly as women. Women can easily handle all the problems which we face in our day-to-day life. And so, to give them respect, love and a big Thank You, we celebrate 8th March as the International Women’s Day. Each woman has the zeal to live and make life better than ever before. She takes the responsibility of the society as well as her own family.
Indian history proves that women are no less and even better than men in many fields. Every woman is special and has wonderful qualities within. Women are the backbone of this developing society. Every woman has an inside beauty and certainly a powerful brain. Yes, they do have a weird fascination towards beautiful things which is one of their specialities. And yes, women always prove the mentality of the society wrong which thinks that women are just made for managing the house. Every woman is an artist. She cooks, designs and finds something beautiful and good in everything, which is her natural talent. They teach us to show love towards everyone and help each living being possible. At last, I would just like to agree with Virginia Woolf that- “As a woman, I have no country. As a woman, my country is the whole world.”
Car Collecting
A hobby is an activity that we like to do in our free time. My hobby is playing with scale models of cars. Scale model of cars means the smaller version of original cars. I have a collection of around 300 cars with me and all of them are scale models. The attraction towards the cars started at the age of 2 when my father brought 3 scale models of cars when he was returning from Jaipur. The cars he brought were BMW Z8, BMW M3 Coupe and the world’s largest car, Limousine. All of the models are made of metal. Most of them are foreign cars, only a handful are Indian cars.
I was very fascinated with cars and started playing with them alone. Gradually, I started collecting information about cars that I had and also about other cars. I am very fascinated with cars and because of them, I have gained knowledge also. Some time ago, Patrika Plus featured an article about my car collection.
I have decided that in the future, I will be an automobile engineer or automobile designer. As an automobile Designer I would get to design the cars and as an Automobile Engineer I would be able to assemble those cars.
