Clean and Healthy India
India is a vast country. We are the world’s largest democracy in terms of population. We have so many cultures and diversity existing in huge forms in India. Despite our diversity, we all are still united and will stay united. There are so many monuments in India like The Taj Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Qutub Minar etc. I can continue to recount India’s achievements and chant tales of its glory, but today’s major problem is unclean India. There are huge heaps of garbage in cities and villages and they are not planned well. The Municipal Corporation has not built many factories in which the garbage can be turned into a source of energy.
A city in Gujarat, Surat, had a plague scare in 1994. In Surat, houses, hotels and restaurants would dump garbage into the streets or drains. Also, The Municipal Corporation did not collect the waste on a regular basis which led to people losing their lives and leaving the city. The scare of plague ensured that the government of Surat completely cleaned the city. Thank goodness, the Municipal Corporation woke up and now the city is spic and span.
A clean India will definitely be a healthy India. Diseases such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya etc. are caused due to stagnant water. If garbage is collected on a daily basis, then the water would flow constantly and the people would be protected from these diseases.
There are basically 2 types of waste that are biodegradable waste and non-biodegradable waste. Biodegradable waste decays and mixes with the soil. Non- biodegradable waste does not decay and mix with soil. This includes plastics {for example, bags and packaging material}, metals {containers, cold drink cans, pins and needles}, and glass {old bottles, broken glass pieces, bulbs}. So, the excess use of non-biodegradable wastes would do nothing but harm the environment and would increase the amount of garbage in an area.
When plastics were introduced, they were hailed to be a wonder material. However, today plastics have become a serious worldwide environmental and health concern. This is because of its non-biodegradable nature and widespread use. Careless disposal of plastic bags chokes drains, blocks the soil and hinders the absorption of water by soil. If eaten by animals such as cows, it can choke and kill them. In India, some municipal areas have banned the use of plastics and they seem to have achieved success. For e.g., today one will not see a single piece of plastic in the entire district of Ladakh where the local government imposed a ban on plastics in 1998.
There are a few significant advantages of recycling waste. It leads to reduced consumption of raw materials. It makes the surrounding cleaner and healthier. It helps to save on landfill space utilized for garbage disposal. It also reduces environmental impacts arising from waste treatment and disposal.
So, recycle and reuse whenever possible, and make a small effort in making India clean and consequently, healthy.

Miracle Workers
The sun shines and she wakes up
Her day of strenuous work begins
She is a wife, daughter, sister, mother, friend
But most importantly she is her own person

Doesn’t fit society’s beauty pageant laws
Short, tall, dark, fair
Skinny or chubby, she is beautiful in her own way
Her scars show her battle marks
She fights the misogynists everyday
Rising above their petty gender remarks/ norms
She proves her vehement disregard
Faith makes her laugh everyday
When she bleeds she is ridiculed
Impure, she is pronounced
Drums of joyous festivities can be heard from miles away when she misses it
Her dreams aren’t bubbles that can be popped
They are diamonds, hard to break and worth millions
Don’t tie her down because your culture says so
Maybe she is fulfilling the dreams of many
A different kind of crazy
A bewitching smile
Dancing around in the monstrous world
She is a woman, I say.
Missing School Days
MISSING SCHOOL DAYS
Fights with friends,
The tasty meals,
How much I miss it,
How lonely it feels.
The makeup for Annual Functions,
The eagerness for sports,
All that have become past,
And our thoughts have gone like ships sailing to the far ports.
The interactive periods,
The knowledgeable lectures of our teachers,
Besides all of this, there are our best friends-the funniest creatures!
But let’s come to the present leaving all the old memories back,
We all today are living under the Corona attack.
Whatever it is I miss school days a lot,
But let’s be positive and hope that this virus will soon be caught.
LIFE
Life- A tale of failures and winnings,
A word which has multiple meanings.
A tragedy, a magic, a risk, an adventure,
A rare and blessed treasure.
Life is a precious blessing,
Life is a river which goes on flowing.
A story which starts with a newborn and ends with death,
Valuable is its every breath.
MOBILE PHONES
Accidents and accidents everywhere,
Of traffic rules there is no care.
Everyone is stuck to their mobile phones,
For which a small kid also moans!
No matter what’s going on in their life,
Mobiles have become the cause of strife!
Everyone’s gone blind after them,
And have made it their dearest gem.
Every single person is going to ruin their eyes,
By the use of these addictive mobiles!
Stop using them day and night, I say,
And just put them far away.

It is my mother earth
Where I took birth.
The official language is Hindi,
The tradition for women here is to put a bindi.
The national flower Lotus grows in the mud,
Which is truly a beautiful bud.
The national animal is tiger here,
Which is the sign of ‘No Fear’.
There are many things to know about this nation,
Which is God’s beautiful creation!
SPECTACLES
Some People wear it for fashion or for good eyesight,
They help us to see everything clear and right.
They are of different colours like black and blue,
No doubt, they help us to see everything true.
They are extremely important in one’s routine,
They are such good friends that I have never seen!
VITAMINS AND MINERALS
Vitamins and minerals,
Are not your criminals.
They give you protection,
So that you don’t have any infection.
They defend you from diseases,
So that you’re not dependent on Jesus.
Protect you from Scurvy and Beriberi.
So that your life becomes like a sweet cherry.
You’ll have strong bones and feet,
If you drink milk and do not cheat.
If you’re diseased and have weak bones,
You’re hospitalized and forced to take huge loans.
Universe
UNIVERSE
There are so many galaxies in the universe,
Planets are also there, which are said to give a curse.
Venus, Mercury and the Earth,
These all, in our Milky Way galaxy, take birth.
All the way around the map or globe,
You can’t find the universe or pull it with a rope.
Stars, comets and asteroids are there,
Some planets have an extreme temperature that we cannot bear.
Blackish all around,
Meteoroids at every bound.
It looks like a wonder to me,
On peaceful earth, we can sit and drink tea.
THE WIDE SKY
It is spread all over the world,
Birds are there, with their wings curled.
There is a Sun and also a Moon,
Seeing this is truly a boon.
Airplanes and helicopters are high up there,
Sometimes the sky is totally bare.
Blue, white and orange we can see,
It’s the most peaceful place that can ever be!
WIND
Blows from east to west,
Never able to take some rest.
From the morning till the night,
It has no colour black or white.
My hair flies in all directions,
How should I describe it- with words or interjections!
I can’t wait to wear a coat,
And also to sail in a boat.
It’s everywhere on the earth and space,
And doesn’t have any definite pace.
Comes in the weather hot or cold,
Never forgets to come, it’s very bold.
School
SCHOOL
It is not just a place for studies,
But also the place for many buddies.
It is a place from where we get knowledge,
Which is provided by school and college.
Mobile phones are restricted there,
So that you don’t focus elsewhere.
Teachers are there for guiding us,
So that the students do not make buzz.
It’s a marvel that makes us grow,
And also to learn and know.
TEACHERS
They are knowledge banks,
And also study tanks.
They clear our queries,
And make our lives as sweet as cherries.
Thanks to all the teachers,
To create inside me study features.
They made all subjects my favorite,
And also taught how to make friends- and now my
friend is my every classmate!
I love all my teachers from the bottom of my heart,
Also the teachers of dance, music, and art.
Thanks for teaching me new things,
You all are my queens and kings!
TIME
Time doesn’t wait for anyone,
Whether it is a monk or a nun.
Clocks and watches help us see it,
Time will never come back, not even a li’l bit.
Time is just a marvel,
There is nothing like ‘Time Travel’.
We can’t call the time back,
Sorry, not able to collect in a sack.
Utilize your time, don’t waste it,
Do anything- study or knit.
Don’t sit and eat a bun,
Because time doesn’t wait for anyone.
