Monuments

MONUMENTS
There are many monuments in the world,
Some are straight, some are curled.
Some are enormous, some are small,
Taj Mahal, Red Fort and all.
Most of them are ancient and rarely new,
But when we see them, a lot of questions
arise in the mind of me and you.
The importance of monuments is from generations ago,
As they give us a hint in the history which you don’t know.
We shouldn’t dirty these amazing marvels we visit,
Without them our Earth will be a boring planet.

LIBRARY
A home of books,
Where vocabulary cooks,
It has many series,
Of roses and lilies.
Science, Math and English,
There are also books, very childish.
Funny, horror and thriller,
There is also a farmer with a miller.
Alice, Mowgli and Charlie,
You can also learn English clearly.
Books are also there of non-violence,
I love to be there coz of the extreme silence.

NATURE
Oh! So beautiful it is,
Flowers, plants and trees there is.
Sparkling sun and mighty mountains,
Sometimes summers, sometimes rains.
Greenery, greenery all around,
Minuscule creatures moving around.
Seeing this makes me happy,
Environment is all crawly and creepy.
Insects and animals are wonderful,
Staring at plants makes me thoughtful.
Observe them with your eyes,
There are many things- bees and butterflies.
Blooming flowers are everywhere,
There are also horses and mare.
Beauty of nature is magnificent,
It can be new or ancient.

Friendship

FRIENDSHIP
This is the story of a dude,
Sometimes good, sometimes rude.
Having this is a lovely thing,
Everyday there is a telephone ring!
Friendship is a good bond,
Sometimes short, sometimes long.
Being a friend gives us pleasure,
It’s really like having a treasure.
Power of friendship is very strong,
Always right, never wrong.
Makes us happy and glad,
Make friends, can be mom or dad.

DREAMS
A ghost here, a fairy there,
You imagine, but don’t know where.
You are sleeping but not your brain,
So your dreams are out again.
What not we can imagine –
A classroom or an inn!
My dream world is very big,
There is also a mouse and a pig.
Dreams are pretty good,
Sometimes I go with Red Riding Hood.
Some are incredible, some are haunted,
But dreams are always wanted.

MAGIC
Move your wand and magic done,
These all are rumours, number one.
The power within you is Magic,
Which we cannot get by moving a stick.
Magicians are the “Masters of Magic” people say,
These all are fake things, I convey.
Stop believing in these useless things,
The magic is within you, dear queens and kings!

Children

CHILDREN
They are mischievous fellows,
Who love to eat chocolates like 5 stars and Crispellos.
They are so cute when they are young,
But also have a bash and a bang.
When they grow up, they are quite behaving,
But for fun they are craving.
Whether they are young or old,
Their memories are never sold.

BOOKS
They are my best friends,
They come in many trends.
Can be of Maths, Science or English,
They are also about mice and fish.
Dictionaries and Atlases are also books,
They are not just for children- also for elders and cooks.
They help us to gain knowledge,
Books are there for schools and college.
Make reading books your thumb rule,
If you don’t read them you will become a fool.
Like them from your heart,
If you don’t have them, go buy them in the mart.

HEALTH IS WEALTH
Healthy boys and healthy girls,
Make a future full of pearls.
If you are healthy you are wise,
Otherwise you cannot rise.
If you want to be healthy, exercise,
Or wake up early and ride a bike.
Good health helps in bad situations,
Also when there are loads of tensions.
Fruits and vegetables are your friends,
Diseases of body junk food can’t defend.
Eat home-cooked food, our doctors recommend,
Daily workout you should attend.
This saying should be your everyday guide,
Health is wealth for your own good life.

Have you ever seen a demon?

Have you ever seen a demon? I have. No, not seen it but I have heard about it. That demon is not 30 feet tall or fire breathing. The demon about whom I have heard is microscopic but it is really powerful. Nobody has seen it without a microscope but it is the most common one in the newspapers these days. It is very terrible and fatal, it has brought grave silence in busy streets!  Instead of armed forces, doctors and scientists are fighting it.

It is COVID – 19. Even if it is lethal, we should not be scared of it. Many doctors and scientists had to stay away from their houses and loving families to help and save others. Policemen and women provided groceries during the lockdown. We should be thankful to them with all our heart and hope the best in the fight against COVID – 19. Even now doctors and scientists of the entire world are doing back-breaking work to defeat it and have made many working vaccines for its cure.

Do you all remember games of carrom and ludo that you enjoyed with your family members during the lockdown? I got time to spend time with my family. It was the time when I had cheerful games with my family, it was the time when I read dozens of books, it was a time then I learned many things, it was the time when I watched the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata on television. Even if lockdown was a boring time, I learnt many things like the importance of family, freedom and books. I even learnt many new words like curfew, lockdown, quarantine and containment zone and I think so have you.

So while this demon disrupted our normal lives, we faced it bravely and even made the best of it. Let’s fight this demon and not be afraid of it.

Life

Life can be compared to several things like a coin, a circle, a wheel which only knows to move ahead but not to come back. Life is a circle of failure, sadness, anger, success, happiness, progress and affection. If you ever face failure don’t stop, chase the problem and try hard. Time is with you and you will succeed because there’s always a day after the night.

Bad times are better than good times as they teach you life lessons while good may make you lazy. You must take your bad times as a challenge offered by life, and work hard to improve yourself.

It seems like bad times last forever, but this is not the reality. As I have told you earlier, life is like a coin. So, it has two faces that are the darker side of sadness and the brighter side of happiness. In total, life is a balance of happiness and sadness.

Do you know till what age you will  live? Of course, not. No one does. So, we must always live every day like it is the last day of our  life.

Be good to yourself and others, it will count on your karma and will handle your future. Always look for opportunities, work hard, be happy, and you will succeed.

The Pandemic

In January, a dark phase of the human civilization approached
In the disease’s hand even the powerful people got controlled.
Everybody was terrified from young to old,
Because now they were in a dangerous hold.

Schools were shut, offices were closed,
All the people started their new lives at homes.
It was a difficult situation,
And was beyond people’s imagination.

Scientists were busy finding a way to cure this disease,
The pain it inflicted, they wanted to cease.
The good thing which came out was that the Earth was healing,
From the chemicals with which for ages it had been dealing.

So, let us hope that this pandemic vanishes from the Earth,
And everybody is overflowed with laughter and mirth.

The Dream Factory

The very thought of it gave me goosebumps. ‘Really! The Dream Factory.’ Well, there was no doubt about it as the golden letters on the scarlet card read clearly, ‘Lucky winner. Lilly.P.Ray. Ticket for a day’s tour to the Dream Factory.’

I waited for ‘The Day’ with bated breath and could not sleep in anticipation. Finally the day of my dreams arrived and I found myself standing at the colossal gate of the Dream Factory. A tall and slender tour guide beamed at me. At the entrance he handed me a cup filled with many coloured globules like jelly beans. It read ‘Food for your Thoughts.’

As I entered, I noticed the gigantic warehouse was divided into two halves. “Left-The Good Dreams, Right-The Bad Dreams,” said the guide. I saw fairies, angels, elves and nymphs huddled at the left entrance and giants, monsters, ghouls and ghosts at the right. Further I saw big and small air bubbles. They were called ‘Shapers’ as they would turn into anything we would think of for long. Dreams were being processed in huge boilers and the green potion was being poured into small tubes. These tubes were handed to the various agents who would appear in our dreams. The fairies, angels and nymphs delivered the good dreams and the ghosts and ghouls were in charge of the bad ones. Now I knew why I would see them in my dreams. They always came to deliver the kind of dream I had.

As I moved further ahead to the next section of the warehouse, the guide mentioned, “Now you will see how the best and worst dreams are processed in our warehouse, so hold your breath. First we go to the worst dream section. It is in the dungeon below. We go through the round staircase at your right. Stay strong . This might give you jitters.”

I turned right and saw the round staircase. As I slowly climbed down I found myself in a dark, fowl-smelling, dank and cold chamber with a huge boiler and a dark grey sticky potion swirling within it. This was how ‘nightmare’ was being processed. The blood sucking vampires standing near it gave a bone-chilling, disdainful look which made my heart sink somewhere to the bottom. Adjacent to this murky chamber there was another room barely lit. I could hardly make out the figures sitting and floating in the room but clearly they were all in excruciating pain as I could hear shrill cries, deep sobs, cursing and writhing on the damp floor. I was shaken, I was petrified. It gave me such a lowly feeling it seemed as if someone had sucked out the life from me. The guide broke my stupor and said these vapour like translucent figures were actually the worst elements of life that tortured humans from time to time. One by one they were to be churned in the boiler to produce the potion of nightmare. I felt giddy and quickly escaped out of the chamber.

Coming upstairs I inhaled fresh air to recollect my senses. The guide seemed to have sensed my state of mind and to make things lighter he proposed to visit the best dream section. To my pleasant surprise I was greeted with the sweetest fragrance as we started moving down the alleyway. It seemed as if I was not walking anymore but just floating in an air bubble. The fragrance came from the prettiest flowers that adorned the alley. The guide mentioned the best dreams were processed in clouds. The last room facing the alley’s end read- Cloud 9. This was our destination.

As the door opened, I found myself literally floating in the blue sky within my spacious air bubble. Patches of clouds were scattered in the sky. I noticed little fairies sitting on each of these clouds and playing the harp. I was in the most beautiful garden of clouds I had ever imagined in my wildest dreams. I said to myself, “This isn’t real for sure!” I couldn’t believe my eyes. Was I dreaming or was this actually happening?

As I moved further I found some fairies hovering around a silver cauldron kept on a huge fluffy cloud. They looked up and smiled kindly at me. They were busily flying here and there fluttering their little transparent wings adding flower petals, sweet aromatic juices into the golden liquid simmering inside and chiming sweet melodious tunes all along. On other clouds nearby, I saw happy, smiling children playfully running around, little birds chirping enchanting notes sitting on branches. I started wondering if only life could have been a journey through the garden of good dreams. The guide broke my reverie and said, “The sweet smiles of these children, the birds’ cooing and all other beautiful things of the world are added to the golden liquid. It is the best dream potion.” The ambience gave me so much of peace and contentment it seemed as if my heart would rapture in a rhapsody of emotions.

As I made my way back to the main exit of the Dream Factory, the guide handed a little note to me with the same beaming face I had seen earlier that day. I quickly crossed the road and unfolded the small yellow parchment that read, ‘The more we think good, the more we generate good dreams and the more we think bad, well you know what it is!’. I had a spell binding experience and had figured out one thing clearly. From now on I was only going to think good. Who would want the ghouls and the monsters to come to deliver your potion, right?

As I turned around I found the guide still smiling at me standing from the doorway of the factory. I shouted out, “Sorry there. I forgot to ask your name. What’s your name please?” He beamed again generously and replied, “Well little friend, people call me SLEEP.”
