Silent

In a moment of hush,
The dark earth tugs at a soul;
Forbidden woods glisten invitingly,
To mysteries that lie beyond.

The one who blows at every hearth,
Creeps unknowingly from behind;
And when the flames extinguish’d,
Morphs into the wind and flies.

Only to long for a forgotten moment in time,
When I rang in true laughter,
And my voice hath not echoed
In empty chambers and ceilings.

My mouth acts in oblivion
Of every comforting song to sing,
A tragic awakening comes by fall
When I dreamt of another joyful spring.

In mortal form my senses
Show the senseless locked away;
And shadows wail as they dissipate
To the touch of falling sunrays.

Carefree gray pebbles here
Part to give people way;
But exist grave stones that instead
Make moving people stay.

In light of strange faces I attempt a disguise
To have only gleeful times treasured for me;
But when the truth erupts in silence,
Every soldier is to buckle and end up falling.

My mind remains devoid,
Of every blissful melody.
Feet that tapped to rhythms on the ground,
Now lay silently below it.

Beauty

Heard everyone talking about her
Well she got me nowhere
But she gave me a lot too
A pool of tears
A sea of fears
And an ocean of liars
It’s a lot she gave me.
Heard people are changing themselves for her
Please hear me out
She’ll lead you to an ugly place
Maybe you find her on other’s face
Maybe she’s your heart’s pace
Maybe she’s just a part of the race.
Heard she helps you find “love”
Pardon me, it’s never true
She’s all about ‘who are you?’
She’s in each one, not in a few
She’s just lost, maybe it’s her toxic crew
But BEAUTY got me nowhere once I got up and grew.
Heard she’s part of our soul
Maybe that’s true
Heard about loyalty and kindness
Maybe that’s our next clue.

The Party Downstairs

Decked were the halls in purple
And huddled in groups
Were unsuspecting people

At the eye of the whirlwind
Stood in magnificent attire
The lady no one would ever dare to abscind

And by the corners stood a man
Face turned away from chamber lamps
Unamused by the festive mood

When the songs began to play
There was an unholy rigidity to his sway
Look not where he’d prance
To-night to play a more dangerous dance
Glanced not at whom he moved with to the melody
Had perhaps found more fascinating eyes to see

And whence began the toast
He engaged in slight fancy talking
Slip in not words but hemlock blood
Through clear glass one cannot pass
So instead he left his impressions on it

Then faded from the light of transiently happy faces
Into a hidden town painted in red
He nods and says, “the deed is done.”
To a man looking of greater importance
Who reports to someone else

Soon enough they heard a cry
And rampage outpouring from the tower
So horrifying! The Queen had died
Showing symptoms of old age
Left was no one to hold the reins of the reign

A moment later, the royal examiner
Steps into the room too
And they all raise a chalice
To the one on the makeshift throne
Who announced that people were the true weapons
To choose wisely who to silence and who to caress
And then they went on with their party downstairs.

Nature’s Echo

Welcome to the lonely forest
Where thinkers stay for the night,
A world away from people who sit at hearths laughing
Peeping eyes I await to view my tapestry.

Welcome to the lonely peaks
Where slight sunlight peeking from behind heights,
Greets me home each rise,
To caress the figure buried feet-deep in snow.

Welcome to the fiery lakes,
Where winds that once offered respite pull flames higher,
Until I reminisce life in a groundwork of ashes
And a sense of loss is rediscovered amidst the black moss.

Once I turn to the world of lies
No crack reflects to show them breaking outside
I catch my reflection in people of glass
And wonder if all imperfections come to pass.

When smoke settles and winter’s pass’d,
Only if one can get close enough to see
Nature’s old toys of framework
Creak not underneath.

Fairy tales give in to misery and then another springtime,
All love ends in war
Any survivors find themselves,
In someone’s warm arms.

Echoing in Nature’s song
The cycle goes on.

Habits

There are many types of the habits in the world,
Some are enlightened, some are blurred.
Some habits are good, some are bad.
Some make you sad, others make you glad.

Some habits are really tragic,
At the beginning they look like magic.
But they end with no fun,
Something like being inside the Sun.

Some habits are really magic,
At the beginning they look tragic.
But they end with only fun,
Something like living in heaven.

All About Tortoises

“We live in a culture full of hares; but the tortoise always wins”~ Dave Ramsey
“Tortoise steps, slow steps, four steps like a tank with a tail dragging in the sand. Tortoise steps, land based, land locked, dusty like the desert tortoise herself, fenced in, a prisoner on her own reservation- teaching us the slow art of revolutionary patience.”~ Terry Tempest Willams.

Unusual facts about tortoises:-
1. The gender of a tortoise egg isn’t determined right away. Being a reptile, a tortoise’s life revolves around the climate of a region. When the surrounding temperature of the eggs is warmer, more female tortoises hatch; when it’s colder, more males hatch.
2. Tortoises can extract water and nutrients from even the most paltry bites. Their hindgut system works like a double digestive tract, separating water from their waste. When water’s scarce, they’ll hang on to water waste and simply excrete the urates, which look like white toothpaste.
3. The tortoise is the symbol of the Greek god Hermes.
4. 23rd May is celebrated as World Tortoise Day.

Black and White

Black is Black and
White is white
Just as we have marble and granite
Both are pure for sure
As one shows darkness and one shows light

Just as we have day and night
Both are opposites yet alike
